Today, globally, regionally and nationally, the advancement of women’s rights, particularly those pertaining to sexuality, reproductive rights and bodily integrity, is being rolled back due to religious extremism, conservatism, populism and ethno-nationalism. These trends have exacerbated and cemented the patriarchal nature of the societies we live in. Limitations on women’s sexuality, sexual and reproductive rights and their bodily integrity means control over women’s freedoms and their lives. The session aims to share ARROW’s work with our partners on understanding, building awareness and demanding accountability to stem the effects that fundamentalism has on limiting these rights and strategising ways for concerted efforts to counter these influences.
