Investing in Space for AgriFood

Exploring the opportunities to invest in the emerging sector of data and information services in the AgriFood sector

web seminar
Wednesday, June 7, 2017 -
14:00 to 15:15
Investing in Space for AgriFood is part of a one-day conference that will take place in The Hague. The conference is organised to explore the opportunities in the Netherlands and Europe to invest in the emerging sector of data and information services in the AgriFood sector. In recent years new technologies in the field of earth observation have shown the enormous potential of creating impact in this sector. By providing timely information about weather conditions, pest and diseases, crop monitoring and water productivity, farmers worldwide can achieve higher yields with fewer inputs of water and pesticides. In particular mobile technologies can reach millions of smallholder farmers in Africa, Asia and Latin America and improve food security. During the event we will jointly analyse the potential of the sector, discuss the current investment gaps it faces and develop strategies how to accelerate its growth. This conference brings together (data) companies, investors, banks, government officials, civil society and others active in this field.
